Search Brown County Traffic Court

Brown County traffic court matters start with the Brown County Clerk, the office that keeps the local trial court's traffic records. A citation ties to a court case through its ticket number, a name search, or the clerk's own files. Paying online works only if the ticket is eligible and the details match. Planning to fight the ticket? Contact the court first. Keep in mind that these court records sit apart from the state agency's driver file, and any court date should be confirmed through the case docket or the court that set it.

Traffic Case Records in Brown County

Brown Circuit Court is the only court of record listed for Brown County. Its Clerk collects infraction fines and fees for city, county, and state cases. Every Brown case carries the 07C01 court prefix. Infraction or ordinance causes may add an IF or OV type inside the full cause number. The docket can show the citation and the charge. It can also show hearing entries, a plea, the disposition, judgment, balance events, and public orders.

The Indiana court directory and Odyssey list no active Nashville Town Court. The town code still keeps a town-court provision on paper, but treat that as history. Do not assume a Nashville citation sits on a separate town docket. Instead, confirm the court printed on the ticket. Search MyCase. Ask the Brown County Clerk when the issuing agency or venue is unclear.

Brown County Ticket Portal Fields

The Indiana ticket payment portal gives three ways to search: by UTT number, by license number, or by name with an optional middle initial and birth date. These fields pull up eligible Odyssey ticket records. They do not replace the court file itself.

Brown County Traffic Ticket Lookups

Start with the citation itself. Check the issuing court. Check the UTT number, the appearance or payment date, the offense, and the instructions. A new ticket may not be ready for online action right away. A blank result can mean one of two things. The citation may belong to another court. It may also be ineligible for the payment system. Keep the paper deadline in view while checking other routes.

  1. Enter the exact UTT number in the Indiana payment portal.
  2. If needed, try the eligible license-number or name-and-birth-date route.
  3. Open each result and match the court, case, offense, and ticket date.
  4. Search MyCase for the CCS and hearing events.
  5. Call the Brown County Clerk at 812-988-5510 when the case is missing or unclear.
  6. Visit the first-floor clerk counter or send a specific mail request when a copy is needed.

Open multiple tickets one at a time. A broad result screen does not establish that each balance was paid or each case was disposed.

Brown County Clerk Traffic Desk

One unified clerk office handles Brown County infraction records, case payments, and copy requests. The public counter sits on the first floor of the Brown County Courthouse at 20 E Main Street in Nashville, open 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays. Mail goes to P.O. Box 85, Nashville, IN 47448. Bring or state the UTT number. Give the 07C01 cause number if one has been assigned, plus your record or payment question.

No Brown source promises a permanent self-service terminal, a traffic-record email form, or a fixed copy turnaround. Call 812-988-5510 before relying on any unconfirmed channel.

Brown County Payment Routes

Brown County's official payment page names BridgePayment and lists cash, money order, and credit or debit for in-person payments. Personal checks have not been accepted since January 18, 2024. A credit-card surcharge may apply online or at the counter.

Brown County payment instructions for traffic court cases

Check the cause number and court before paying. The portal does not accept every citation.

Checkout screens have shown a 1.96% processing component, a $0.40 instant-access fee, a $2.50 division fee, and a $0.50 state technology fee. Treat those as checkout components to confirm. They are not a promise that every Brown payment carries each charge. The portal may also offer a $1 ticket copy when available.

Traffic Court Dates in Brown County

Compare the court date printed on a citation with the newest CCS event. Brown County does not appear as a participating node in the statewide Court Calendar. An empty calendar result does not cancel a hearing. Use MyCase, then contact Brown Circuit Court or the Clerk directly. A reset should leave a later event or order. So should a continuance. It supersedes the first date.

Citation numberThe UTT number printed on the ticket, such as the portal’s J0000000 style example.

Date and timeRead the appearance date separately from ticket, filing, and entry dates.

If the setting is unclear or has passed, call before traveling. Court staff can give general case information and the next hearing date, but they cannot advise which plea or response to choose.

Brown County Infraction Terms

Traffic entries use court terms that describe events, not personal driving history. A CCS is the chronological case summary. A disposition is the court's final result for a charge. A deferral is a prosecutor-approved route that may postpone disposition under stated conditions. A continuance moves a setting by court order.

The Indiana Judicial Branch glossary defines the common court language found in traffic cases.

Use the exact CCS wording, and ask the Clerk about procedure when a local entry remains unclear.

IF: Indiana case code for an infraction.

OV: Indiana case code for an ordinance violation.

CCS: Chronological Case Summary, the case-event docket.

Paying a Ticket vs Fighting It

Paying and contesting are different choices. The portal may require a plea choice and agreement before online payment, so a reader who wants to contest the citation should not pay first. Read the citation's appearance or payment date. Then contact the court before that date for the required plea or appearance process. Brown's sources state no universal deadline apart from the citation.

PayingContesting
Verify ticket, court, offense, balance, plea screen, and payment eligibility.Contact the named court before the citation date for plea and appearance instructions.
Use the portal or Brown Clerk’s approved in-person or mail route.Do not assume online payment preserves a request to contest.
Keep the confirmation and check the case for the payment or disposition event.Keep notices and confirm any later hearing through the CCS or court.

Brown lists a $192.50 deferral-program fee. Ask the prosecutor whether your ticket qualifies. Confirm the offer terms, the payment, and any other statutory costs before relying on either number. Brown runs no local defensive-driving course and no photo-enforcement program.

Missed payment or appearance: Contact the Brown Clerk and read the case record at once. Do not assume an unverified warrant, hold, or county penalty.

Brown County Unpaid Ticket Events

Indiana can take an unpaid Odyssey traffic ticket out of a state tax refund. The Office of Judicial Administration mails a garnishment letter first. The driver has thirty days to pay. That window runs from the letter's date. The Department of Revenue may add a 10% processing fee on top. Payment in full triggers the next step. The court tells the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to clear the failure-to-pay status.

That is the state process. Brown County itself publishes no local failure-to-appear warrant program, license hold, or anything similar. Rely on the citation, the Brown CCS docket, the Clerk, and BMV notices. Do not assume a consequence. Payment and disposition entries may appear in the court docket. Only the maintaining clerk can confirm an official balance.

Two Records: Court File and Driver File

Two different offices hold these records. Brown Circuit Court and its Clerk keep the citation case, while the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles keeps the driver record. A court disposition can be reported to the BMV. Even so, MyCase never becomes the state driver file.

Keep a Brown County court docket search pointed at the case the Brown Circuit Court actually heard. A blank portal result says nothing about what a separate agency keeps in its own driver file.

Brown County Traffic Filing Context

Indiana publishes trial-court statistics broken out by case category, which covers infractions and ordinance violations. Those filing counts show volume. They are not a live calendar. They will not pull up an individual case. Note the difference between certified annual data and provisional current data. The two carry different weight.

The official statistics collection is where the state posts its court filing reports.

Indiana trial court statistics source for Brown County traffic filings

For a named Brown County traffic case, check MyCase or ask the Clerk directly instead of reading meaning into a countywide total. Totals count filings. They say nothing about one docket or its status. The trial statistics help page spells out exactly what those reports can and cannot tell you about a Brown County court docket.

Traffic Record Copy Fees

Ask the Brown County Clerk for a traffic filing or case record. Give the cause number and the document date. Plain copies of requested filings cost $1 per page. If the ticket portal offers copies, it lists a $1 charge per ticket copy. The Clerk publishes no separate certified-copy, exemplification, search, or rush fee.

Confirm certification and payment instructions with the Clerk before you send any money. A ticket balance, a copy charge, and a new-case filing fee are three different items, so keep them straight when you pay.
