Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in an embedded search tool is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Brown County Court Docket does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to the site may be retained so the message can be answered. It remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers may automatically receive these technical details:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device to help measure use, including popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers aggregate that traffic information. A browser can reject cookies, although disabling them may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Maintaining site availability, speed, and basic operation
- Routing a submitted search to the selected outside provider
- Measuring which pages are useful or need improvement
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Brown County Court Docket does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of case records or personal court information. It publishes general directions to Brown Circuit Court, the Brown County Clerk, and Indiana MyCase. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party case profiles.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the embedded search boxes. A query submitted there is governed by that provider’s privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider sets its retention and disclosure practices independently, so review those terms before entering information.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Brown County Clerk, Brown Circuit Court, Indiana MyCase, legal-aid resources, or commercial tools. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination’s privacy terms apply. Review them before disclosing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted advertisements.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used for collected data. No internet service can guarantee complete protection, so the site cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger than 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be removed when a valid request is received.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy and consumer-protection law may provide additional rights. Indiana court records themselves are governed by the Indiana Access to Court Records Rules and Administrative Rule 9, with Indiana Code 5-14-3 providing the state public-records framework. Those court-access rules are separate from rights concerning data held by this private site. At a minimum, a visitor may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A revised version will be posted here with its new effective date.
